Yes. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, your GP may set up a GP chronic condition management plan. This replaced Chronic Disease Management (CDM) and EPC plans from 1 July 2025. It covers up to five Medicare-rebated allied health visits per calendar year, which can include podiatry. Bring your referral to your first appointment.

It depends on your risk level. Low-risk feet are usually checked once a year. People with nerve damage or reduced circulation are usually seen every 3 to 6 months. People with a history of foot ulcers are usually seen every 1 to 3 months. Your podiatrist will confirm the right timing for you.
-
We test nerve sensation with monofilament and vibration tests, check blood flow with a Doppler ultrasound, treat any corns or nails, check your footwear and give you a plan for checking your feet at home. The appointment takes 40 minutes.
-
Most heel pain improves with conservative care. Treatment usually starts with load management and stretching, then taping, custom orthotics and shockwave therapy if needed. Surgery is rarely required. A biomechanical assessment helps find what is causing the pain.
-
Yes. Branxton Podiatry prescribes medical-grade custom orthotics for arch, heel and knee pain. They are based on an assessment of how you stand, walk and move.
-
In most cases, yes. We perform a partial nail avulsion in the clinic under local anaesthetic. It removes the problem edge of the nail and treats the nail root so that strip is unlikely to grow back. Regrowth is uncommon but can happen, and we talk through the risks before you decide. Allow 60 minutes for the appointment.
